Whipped Cream

Lately I have been rather lazy in my craftiness. I've been brainstorming projects, but haven't actually started on any. If I can get around to making some of the stuff, I'll have some good post to share in the future, mostly clothes too! But until I get around to that...

I did do something yesterday that I think is worth sharing. I made whipped cream! I never knew how easy it is to make, or I definitely would have tried it sooner. Believe me, it is worth the little effort! (I tried this because the store had strawberries buy 1 get 2 free, they were out of Reddi Whip, and I don't like Cool Whip because it's not real cream. So I had no other choice! lol)

Anyway, here's how I made it. I chilled the mixing bowl in the freezer while I washed and cut the strawberries. Then I poured 1 cup of cold whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in the bowl and beat it with the electric mixer until it got thick and looked like whipped cream. It's that easy! It didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would to whip, and I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be too terrible to do it by hand even.

The whipped cream stayed fluffy for close to an hour in the fridge, and once it started to liquefy again, I just whipped it up with a wire whisk. I like that I know what's in it, and it's not a pain to make. I don't think I'll be going back to store bought whipped cream again!

Sorry I don't have a pic for this post, but the last thing on my mind (with angel food cake, strawberries, and whipped cream in front of me) was to grab a camera! ;)

*Edit* Since posting this I tried making whipped cream by hand. It was not as easy as I had hoped. My arm felt like it was gonna fall off so I got out the electric mixer. I'm a weakling though, so that could be why. :)
