Baby-proof Bookshelf

Hi!  I've been wanting something good to post for weeks and I've finally got a project to post and the time to post it!  I really hope this will help someone out as well.

I have four bookshelves in my living room.  That really sounds like a lot, but one is built in and all are pretty small.  We have one on either side of the tv one is under a short bar/counter thing going into the kitchen and the other is a really small bookshelf that has been in my husbands family for years.  That one I'm not going to do anything to and it is not involved in this project! lol

Here's one of the shelves beside the tv.

Anyway, ever since Fletcher got into being curious the bookshelves have been an issue.  I only had the one built-in with the girls and that wasn't too bad to keep tidy, I had the time to keep it tidy back then.  So when Fletcher started pulling stuff off of all four bookshelves I got to brainstorming.  It took a while but I finally came up with this.

It's pretty much just curtains but the top and bottom are on rods to keep him from just pulling them back. I hung them on sash rods.  They came in sets of two with the hardware for a little under $3 at Home Depot.  They were easy to hang (I swapped out the nails they came with for screws) and then I just measured the distance between the rods to sew simple curtains.  There are two curtains by the way.  They separate in the middle making it easier to access the books inside.

If anybody would be interested in a tutorial just let me know.  I still have to make the curtains for the other shelves so I'll get photos along the way.

He's only been around it for a few minutes, so only time will tell if it works.  I'm hoping for an "out of sight out of mind" type of fix.  I'll let y'all know how it works out!  Have a great week and God bless!
